Very early, crank activated music box dating from around 1900 and beautifully illustrated with images of an idyllic Victorian childhood. It shows an amazing degree of artistry and detail that's usually found only on the best of German lithographed toys. The condition is very close to mint, with original high gloss finish on the tin. The generous use of metallic gold for the trims gives the piece an added richness that is impossible to capture in the photos. It plays three distinct plink-plunk musical notes (though it probably had six notes originally) and is entirely of tin construction, except for a wooden turning knob and a semi-gloss cardboard for the base. It measures just a touch under 3 inches in diameter and approximately 2 inches in height, excluding the handle. The toy is not signed, but is most definitely German and 100% original.
